The Bangur Nagar police have arrested four men including a minor boy on Friday for killing a transgender person on the roadside at goregaon two days ago.
According to the police after four unsuccessful attempts the four accused killed their neighbour who was a transgender person identified as Suresh Pujari alias Surya.
The four accused identified as 16-year-old boy, Rajesh Yadav (23), Vinay Yadav (22) and Dheeraj Vishwakarma (20) hated Surya as he used to threaten the four and pick up fights with them for petty reasons.
The incident took place at 4.30pm on Wednesday when Surya was passing by Roomaniya Hotel at Goregaon and some unidentified men approached and attacked him, said police.
After the murder the four had fled the city and switched off their mobile phones. The officers investigating the case recieved information regarding their whereabouts based on which the police laid a trap and arrested the four on Froday From Vasai
“The four told us that they were Surya’s neighbouts in Prem Nagar and used to get intimidated by Surya every day. Surya who was the head of the transgender community in Malad used to threaten them and others in the locality,” said a police officer from Bangur Nagar station
Vishal Thakur, deputy commissioner of police (zone 12) said that they have arrested the four and sent the minor into protective custody at Children’s Home.
