The Vakola police have booked a 30-year-old Chartered Accountant for allegedly raping a woman he had met through social media. The woman alleged that the accused had promised her marriage and raped her.

According to the Vakola police the woman in her complaint alleged that during the lockdown in 2020, she had started chatting with a CA identified as Furkaan Khan. Over the months, the two exchanged their phone numbers and started talking over the phone. The victim who has been separated from her husband in 2018 claimed that the two began an affair and after the lockdown rules were relaxed, Khan invited her on a date at Bandstand in September.

The two chatted there for hours when Khan promised to marry her.

The police officers said that after a few days Khan asked for Rs 10,000 which she gave him by borrowing it from her friend.

“In the month of November the woman claimed that Khan went to her house and raped her by promising her marriage,” said a police officer from Vakola police station.

The woman then said that in December Khan stopped answering her phones a deleted her from his friend’s list.

When the woman realized that she had been cheated she approached the Vakola police and registered a complaint under section 376 of Indian Penal Code for rape  against Khan on December 21st, 2020.

The Vakola police had launched a manhunt for Khan.

“On Thursday the Bombay Sessions court rejected the anticipatory bail Khan. We have urged the Vakola to arrest Khan soon,” said victim’s advocate Adil Khatri.
