The officials of the Crime Branch Virar Unit on Wednesday claimed to have detected a house breaking theft with the arrest of a notorious criminal.
According To The Police on March 7, unknown accused broke into a flat in Nalla Sopara and robbed 25 Tolas of Gold, 1 kg silver and cash of Rs 17 lakhs.
An offence under section 454,457, 380 of the IPC was then registered with the Tulinj police station.
The crime branch officials who took up the probe worked on all angles, including the intelligence inputs, and finally arrested the accused a notorious criminal on Monday whose name was given as Abdul Idris Shaikh, 43 of Nalla Sopara East.
The police has recovered a total of 29 tolas of golden ornaments, 1 kg of Silver ornaments and also Rs 9.76 lakhs cash from the accused.
The two-wheeler used in the crime has also been impounded. Further probe into the matter is underway, police apprised
