Assistant Police Inspector Of Mahim Police Station Suspended For Allegedly Not Taking Action Against Extetned Criminal

Suresh Walvi, assistant police inspector from Mahim police station has been suspended by his superiors for allegedly not taking action against extetned criminal allowing him to commit murder of a footpath dweller.

The incident took place on the footpath at Naya Nagar in Mahim when the accused identified as Richie Fernandes (27) had a fight with another footpath dweller, Masjid Yamin Khan (18) over money. The fight escalated following which Fernandes killed Khan at 12.30am on May 28th. Fernandes was arrested and a case of murder under section 302 of the IPC was registered against him.

However Fernandes who was already exterened as he was a history sheeter had also committed molestation before killing Khan.

According to the police officials incharge of Mahim police station, Walvi should have kept a watch on the exterend criminal who has a leaning towards violent crimes. Walvi failed to take action against the criminal who was seen in the area inspite of Bing extetened and allowed him to commit serious crimes like molestation and murder at a public place.

Walvi was given his suspension orders owing to his negligence towards his duty.

“After conducting an enquiry into the matter, it was observed that Walvi’s negligence in keeping an eye on an exterend criminal lead to severe crime on Mahim, ” said a police officer.
