NEW DELHI: Hemant Soren, who had to step down as chief minister of Jharkhand following his arrest by ED in an alleged money laundering case, is likely to assume the top post once again.
Sources in JMM said Hemant’s return as CM has been agreed upon by the party’s allies – Congress and RJD, according to news agency PTI.
Sources added chief minister Champai Soren will step down to pave way for Hemant’s return to the top post.
The move comes days after Soren was granted bail in a money laundering case linked to the land scam case.
The party sources said that leaders and MLAs of the alliance during a meeting at CM Champai Soren’s house unanimously decided to elect Hemant Soren as JMM legislature party leader.
