CHANDIGARH: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will form an alliance for the Haryana assembly elections, scheduled to be held in Oct this year. INLD general secretary Abhay Chautala would be the CM face.
While INLD will contest 53 seats in the 90-seat state assembly, BSP will fight on 37. Akash Anand, nephew of BSP chief Mayawati, announced Chautala’s name as CM face of the alliance.
Chautala said though they had an understanding on seat-sharing, INLD would not hesitate to share more seats with its alliance partner considering the winnability of candidates.
The decision on seat distribution among parties would be taken by both parties following discussions, Chautala added.
Chautala said the INLD-BSP alliance has laid the foundation of a third front, as his party would appeal to other like-minded outfits to join hands. “We would not hesitate to form an alliance with AAP, if needed,” he added.
