NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of two distinguished judges to the nation’s highest court. The Collegium has proposed the appointment of Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and Justice R. Mahadevan, the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, as Judges of the Supreme Court of India.
This recommendation is particularly noteworthy as Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh will be the first Judge from the state of Manipur to be appointed to the Supreme Court, if the recommendation is accepted.
