NAVI MUMBAI: At least five people died and 27 others were injured after a private bus in which they were travelling from Pune to attend a marriage at Mahad, Raigad met with an accident in Tamhini ghat near Mangaon on Friday around 9.30am.
The bus driver lost control at a road curvature on the downward gradient and the bus toppled sideways.
The Mangaon police team rushed to the spot with a rescue team and ambulance.
Five wedding guests comprising of two men and three women were killed on the spot as they were declared brought dead at Mangaon sub-district hospital.
The 27 injured guests trapped inside the toppled bus were rescued and taken to hospital, informed Nivrutti Borhade, senior inspector of Mangaon police station.
