Mumbai Crime Branch Unit 9 Arrested Shakti Mills Gangrape Accused In Serious Crimes
The Mumbai Police has once again arrested one of the juveniles accused in the infamous Shakti Mills gangrape, this time for his involvement in serious crimes like murder, attempt to murder, threats, ransom, etc.
The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Aakash Jadhav.
Jadhav, who was a juvenile accused in the sensational 2013 Shakti Mills gangrape case, reportedly started running an extortion gang in Mumbai.
On February 28, Bandra resident Rizwan Qureshi was brutally stabbed by Aakash and his accomplice Ankit. Qureshi is still in the hospital recovering from the grievous injuries.
Speaking on the matter, DCP Akbar Pathan of the Mumbai crime branch said, “We received information that there is one gang who is operating and spreading terror amongst people. We came to know that accused is a history-sheeter, so we laid a trap to nab them and arrested two accused.”
According to senior police inspector Nandkumar Gopale, the accused are involved in several serious criminal cases.
Shakti Mill Gangrape
Aakash was the juvenile accused is the Shakti Mills gangrape case.
In the year 2013, a 22-year-old photojournalist had gone inside Mumbai’s Shakti Mill Compound for a photo shoot along with a male colleague.
There, five men tied up the man and raped the woman taking turns. One of the accused in the case was a juvenile.
As he was a minor at the time of the crime, he was sent to a remand home for reformation and was released a few years later.
After coming out of the correction home, Aakash formed his own criminal gang.
According to police officials, Aakash’s gang has committed murder, attacked and assaulted people, demanded ransom.
Aakash and his friend Ankit have several serious criminal cases registered against them at various police stations in Mumbai.
