NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old boy stabbed a man to death at Ghatkopar railway station after a quarrel over a seat on a local train.
The incident occurred on November 15, and police detained the teenager and arrested his elder brother in connection with the attack on Wednesday.
According to the Kurla railway police, the victim, Ankush Bhagwan Bhalerao, had boarded a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-bound fast train from Titwala on November 14.
During the journey, an argument broke out between Bhalerao and the minor over a seat, which escalated when Bhalerao slapped the boy.
The following morning, Bhalerao took the same train to Ghatkopar, and as he walked on platform no. 4, the teenager attacked him with a knife.
Bhalerao suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Based on CCTV footage, police detained the minor and arrested his elder brother, who helped conceal evidence.
During questioning, the teen confessed to the murder, revealing that he had hidden the knife on his house’s roof and had cut his hair to avoid recognition. The minor has been sent to a juvenile detention center.
