Bail for teacher in delayed abetment case

Mumbai: In a Palghar case of suicide abetment and Pocso registered against a school teacher, Bombay HC granted him bail. The HC said the case was registered after 8 years, and the student who alleged that he was sexually abused committed suicide two years after leaving the school. Before single Judge bench of Justice Anil Kilor on Nov 28, advocate Satyavrat Joshi for the accused argued for bail on merit, delay, while prosecutor Priyanka Rane and advocate Drupad Patil for the complainant opposed citing the chargesheet and seriousness of case. The HC found no proximity to the date of suicide and said it was “doubtful” if section 306 of IPC (abetment of suicide) would be attracted in the case and granted the teacher bail on Rs 25000 bond. tnn
