Modi himself turned to social media on Wednesday to reveal about the deadly disease he has been suffering from, but he didn’t explain much.Informed sources said the 72-year-old BJP leader is suffering from Urinary Bladder cancer.
“I have been battling cancer for the last 6 months. Now I feel that the time has come to tell people,” Modi posted on X on Wednesday, expressing his inability to do anything for his party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“Lok Sabha chunav me kuchh nahin kar paunga,”
he wrote on X, adding he had informed everything to PM Narendra Modi in this regard. He stated that he would always be grateful to the party, state and the country.
Modi’s missing name from the list of BJP candidates for Rajya Sabha elections in February had sparked widespread speculations. He was elected to Rajya Sabha in December 2000 to fill the seat left vacant after the death of LJP founder president and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan who died after prolonged illness in October 2000.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad expressed shock over the news of Modi suffering from cancer. “I have known him for 50 years and pray to God that he gets well soon and becomes active in public life and in public service so that everyone can benefit from his long political experience,” Lalu said in a statement.
BJP’s Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde wished for speedy recovery of Modi. “The people’s blessings are with you. We hope that soon you will recover and join us in public service again,” Tawde wrote on X.
