AGRA: UP CM Yogi Adityanath said in a poll rally at Aligarh on Friday that his govt had ensured safety for “daughters and the common man”, by cracking down on goons. “Who would have thought that daughters could go out safely at night in UP? It has now become possible. We have sent out a strong message that we can not only bring Ram back (to Ayodhya) but also get ‘Ram Naam Satya’ (last rites done) for those who pose a threat to society,” the CM said.
Campaigning for Satish Gautam, the BJP candidate from Aligarh, Yogi added: “Before 2014 and 2017, even businessmen were afraid as they used to face criminal threats. Now, we live by taking the name of Ram and can fix all unruly elements… UP has been freed from communal riots, curfews, and kanwar yatra takes place without a hindrance.”
He urged the people of the state to elect Narendra Modi for a third term as Prime Minister for “continued peace and more development”.
Referring to Holi, the CM said that festivals are now being celebrated in a peaceful manner.
“UP was known for only nuisance and violence in the past. But now the state has become a land of festivals. There is Ram Utsav, Rangotsav, Dev Deepawali, Deepotsav, Krishna Utsav… This is the new UP. Did anyone ever think the poor would get free ration, housing and health cards here? Today, local handi craftsmen and artisans are getting respect too,” he added, pointing out that “Holi of Barsana and Vrindavan has received global recognition.”
Yogi further said, “This time, 10 lakh people had come to Barsana on the day of Holi. Whereas before 2017, only 20-25,000-odd people used to come. After 500 years, Ram Lalla, too, has played Holi…” The CM also stressed on his govt’s support for sugarcane farmers.
