Mumbai: The state administration has issued special permission for bars to operate until 5am on three specific dates: Dec 24 and 25 for Christmas celebrations, and Dec 31 for New Year festivities. Police have sought clarification from the govt regarding this matter.
The extended timings apply to hotels, restaurants, permit rooms and orchestra bars. The establishments in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nagpur typically close at 1.30am, those in Aurangabad, Nashik, Amravati, and Solapur commissionerate areas close at 11.30pm, and venues in other locations shut at 10pm. For these three celebratory days, all venues are permitted to remain open until 5am.
The administration has instructed all establishments to strictly adhere to regulatory requirements during these extended operating hours. They are required to arrange private security personnel to maintain order and prevent any disruption to law and order. tnn
