Mumbai: A fortnight after the election results, the AICC is yet to appoint a Congress legislature party leader, a group leader and the chief whip in the state legislative assembly.
“It reflects the state of affairs in the Maharashtra Congress. Mahayuti has appointed chief ministers and deputy CMs while AICC has not been able to appoint a legislature party leader,” a senior Congress leader said. He said after the debacle in the assembly polls, MPCC president Nana Patole had convened a special meeting on Nov 27 to elect the legislature party leader, group leader and chief whip. In that meeting, MPCC passed a resolution authorising AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to appoint them. “We were expecting a decision at least before the special session,” he said. — Prafulla Marpakwar
