Grand Award Ceremony Highlights Social Justice, Culture, and Transgender Welfare

Mumbai, April 15, 2026 —Divisional Transgender Person Protection of Right and Welfare Board Mumbai Division The Ministry of Social Justice and Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra, organized a grand award ceremony celebrating achievements in social development, with a strong focus on inclusivity and community welfare. Dr. Sanvi Jethvani Co-Vice President of Maharashtra State Transgender Protection of Right and Welfare Board were invited as Chief Guest for this workshopThe event commenced with vibrant cultural performances, including dance and musical presentations that captivated the audience and conveyed messages of unity, diversity, and social harmony.A key highlight of the कार्यक्रम was a panel discussion on the state budget and its implementation. Experts, policymakers, and social workers engaged in meaningful dialogue on ensuring effective execution of welfare schemes and maximizing their impact at the grassroots level.Special emphasis was placed on social welfare schemes for the transgender community. Officials shared insights into initiatives aimed at improving access to education, healthcare, employment, and social security for transgender individuals, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive development.During the ceremony, Ms. Sonalee Chaukekar was honored with the “Swachhta Prerak” award by the Government of Maharashtra for her outstanding contribution to the Swachh Bharat Mission. Her dedicated efforts played a crucial role in making Palghar district open defecation free (ODF), significantly improving sanitation awareness and practices in the region.In addition, several members of the transgender community were recognized and honored with different awards for their achievements and contributions across various fields.The समारोह concluded with a strong message of equality, dignity, and empowerment, reaffirming the government’s vision of building an inclusive and socially just society. This event held at Kashinath Ghanekar Hall Thane organized by Divisional Transgender Person Protection of Right and Welfare Board Mumbai Division During this program, Dr. Salma Khan Sakharkar was honored with the Senior Social Worker Award by the Maharashtra Government and Fida Khan was honored with the Best Singer Award and Khushi Shaikh was honored with the Best Artist Award and Zoya was honored with the Best Entrepreneur Award.
