ULHASNAGAR: An FIR was filed against former MLA Pappu Kalani and 20 others for threatening BJP MLA Kumar Ailani in Ulhasnagar. On the day of the election, Kalani created a ruckus outside Kumar’s office, accusing him of distributing money to voters.
Ailani alleged in his complaint that Kalani threatened him while leaving from outside office by making a gesture of showing a revolver using his finger. Both prominent leaders of Ulhasnagar are political rivals.
Ailani stated in the complaint that on the day of the assembly elections, he was standing with his supporters outside his office when Pappu Kalani arrived with 20 supporters. Kalani got down from the car and started calling him by waving his hand.
During this, when Kumar’s sister-in-law, Mona Nair, approached Pappu, he began threatening her. Seeing this, Kumar called his sister-in-law back to him.
According to Ailani, after this, when Pappu sat in his car and started leaving, he looked at him and made a gesture of showing a revolver using his finger. This is why Ailani claims he feels threatened for himself and his family from Pappu and his associates.
Pappu Kalani’s son, Omie Kalani, called the allegation against his father false, stating that the revolver sign accusation was untrue. He mentioned that the video of the entire incident is available with them and on social media, where his father did not make any such gesture. Omie accused Ailani of filing a false FIR by misusing his power.
According to the Ulhasnagar police station, they registered a case based on Ailani’s complaint, and further investigation is underway. It may be recalled that this time, sitting MLA Kumar Ailani was in the electoral fray again as a candidate from BJP, and Omie Kalani was a candidate from NCP (SP). Ailani won with a huge margin of votes.
