The experiential food and travel guide recently announced its 2024/25 awards list. Ever since these awards were announced, Indian cuisine and dishes have been on everyone’s mind, as several Indian dishes and countries topped the list in various categories. While Indian cuisine has been ranked at 12th spot in the overall “100 Best Cuisines in the World” list, as many as 4 Indian dishes have made it to the list of “100 Best Dishes in the World” and all of these dishes are non-vegetarian dishes.
Celebrating culinary excellence worldwide, the guide also announced the list of “100 Best Food Regions in the World”, where as many as 6 Indian cities have made it to the best cities in the world to have food.

The Indian city of dreams – Mumbai was ranked on the 5th spot, and impressed people with its eclectic mix of street food and traditional dishes. The city’s street food, including Bhel Puri, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, and Ragda Pattice, reflects its cosmopolitan food culture. Iconic eateries such as Ram Ashraya, Shree Thaker Bhojanalay, and Cafe Madras earned special mentions for their contributions to Mumbai’s culinary identity.
Among the highlights was Amritsar, which secured the 43rd position, showcasing India’s rich culinary heritage on the global stage. Amritsar earned praise for its hearty, flavourful dishes. Iconic dishes like Amritsari Kulcha, Chicken Tikka, Shahi Paneer, Tandoori Murgh, and Saag Paneer captured the essence of the region’s vibrant food culture. Taste Atlas emphasises the region’s deep-rooted food traditions and the bold flavours that make Punjabi cuisine world-famous.
Ranking under the Top 50 list are New Delhi and Hyderabad at the 45 and 50 spots, which are already known for their variety of street foods. On the other hand, two other Indian cities that made it to the Top 100 cities where people love to eat are – Kolkata and Chennai which secured the 71st and 75th spots, respectively.
Topping this list is Naples in Italy, which is already known for its ‘Neapolitan Pizza’ that has recently been listed in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This city is known as the birthplace of ‘Pizza’ and has lots of street foods to offer to the people coming here.
