NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar rejected on Friday his party workers’ request that he contest Lok Sabha polls from Satara after his classmate, sitting MP Shriniwas Patil, refused to enter the election arena to retain the seat, reported. In 2019, Pawar had braved the weather to campaign for Patil, who defeated BJP candidate Udayanraje Bhonsle. This time, too, BJP was set to nominate Rajya Sabha MP Bhonsle, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.During the meeting with Pawar on Friday, party workers in Satara suggested he contest. “I will be occupied with campaigning for the party and INDIA bloc in Maharashtra and other states. Hence, I will not be able to fulfil your wish. I will not contest the LS polls from Satara or anywhere else,” Pawar said.
