NEW DELHI: The Rouse Avenue court on Monday sent Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15 in liquor policy case.
In a brief interaction with the media while entering the court complex, Kejriwal targeted PM Modi saying, “What the PM is doing is not right for the country”.
This comes after the Delhi court refused to grant any relief to Kejriwal after he filed a plea contending ED’s inability to prove his guilt.The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for April 3.

Enforcement Directorate produced Arvind Kejriwal before court seeking 15-day custody. - Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case and subsequently remanded in the agency’s custody till March 28 by a court in Delhi. He was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court after the end of his custodial remand.
- Kejriwal filed a plea before the Delhi high court, asserting that the ED’s actions violated his fundamental rights. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief contended in his plea that the ED has not been able to prove his guilt.
- The Delhi high court refused to grant any relief to Kejriwal regarding his plea against his arrest by the ED. The court granted ED seven days to respond and fixed April 3 as the next date for hearing.
- In a show of unity, ‘INDIA’ bloc leaders came together at ‘loktantra bachao’ (save democracy) rally on Sunday and attacked the NDA govt for being “dictatorial” and “misusing” ED and other central agencies to “rig” Lok Sabha polls by getting its opponents jailed and bank accounts of parties sealed.
- Kejriwal’s wife Sunita made six promises on behalf of the Delhi CM at INDIA bloc’s ‘Loktantra Bachao’ rally at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. The promises include: 24×7 electricity and no powercuts, free elecrity for the poor, government school in every area and quality education for poor and rich alike, mohallah clinic in very village and area and multi specilailty hospital so everyone can have proper and free treatment, farmers minimum support price (MSP) according to Swaminathan report, and full statehood to Delhi.
- Former deputy chief minister Sisodia and AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and BRS leader K Kavitha were also arrested in relation to the Excise Policy case.
- AAP government had implemented the liquor policy in Delhi on November 17, 2021, based on expert committee report.
- Following the implementation of the policy, Delhi chief secretary Naresh Kumar submitted report to Lieutenant governor VK Saxena on alleged irregularities in the policy on July 8, 2022. Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the formulation of excise policy.
