New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday objected to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi‘s comments on the Hindu community, saying that the comments are an insult to entire Hindu community. Rahul Gandhi‘s remarks came during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the president’s address to a joint sitting of Parliament.
“Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter,” said Prime Minister Modi objecting to Rahul’s comments in the Lok Sabha.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi spoke on the importance of Abhay Mudra, linking it to the Congress party’s symbol. “Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress…The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions,” said Gandhi.
Aiming to corner the BJP in the lower house, Rahul Gandhi said, “Our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear…But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth…Aap Hindu ho hi nahi (You are not Hindu).”
