Nagpur: CM Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday stated that Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee have explicitly instructed Congress to cease raising concerns about EVM tampering.
During his first ever meet the press programme here after assuming office, the CM delineated his government’s vision for balanced development and criticised opposition strategies. He indicated Congress was aware EVMs are tamperproof, yet continues to fault these machines upon electoral defeats whilst praising democracy when victorious. “EC challenged them to demonstrate EVMs can be tampered but neither Congress nor anyone stepped forward. Now, neither me nor ECI need to defend EVMs, Abdullah and Mamta had responded to their unfounded claims,” he stated.
In a pointed critique of the grand old party, the CM demanded a national apology for their recurring disrespect towards Dr B R Ambedkar. “Congress never wanted anyone to surpass the Nehru-Gandhi family. During its six-decade tenure at the centre, it never bestowed Bharat Ratna upon Dr Ambedkar despite his paramount eligibility. They never allocated land to construct a memorial for India’s Constitution architect. Only after BJP’s ascension was land designated at Indu Mill,” he stated.
He said PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah profoundly respect Dr Ambedkar and would never dishonour his legacy. He accused Congress of manipulating backward classes for political advantage whilst impeding genuine reforms for marginalised sections. “Congress is desperate after losing its foundation and is resorting to baseless allegations,” he stated. He emphasised his dedication to balanced growth, pledging reforms in industrial policies and electricity tariffs. “We are striving to reduce power tariffs over 2-3 years to support industries and households,” he said.
