Mumbai: A 12-year-old boy suffered injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a pet German Shepherd while he went to play with his friends in Ghatkopar. The incident took place on Tue afternoon.
The complainant, Amol Kirte, who runs a paan tapri shop, told police that his son, Ayush, went to play with his friends near a BMC school in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar (East). A pet dog on the road at the time came at his son and bit him on his hand and waist.
In the FIR, the father said the owner of the dog, a German Shepherd, had not taken any safety measures, like a belt around its neck or a muzzle on its mouth. Abdul Kareem Pradhan, the owner of the dog also came to the hospital. “My son was given an injection. He sustained injuries on his hands and waist. There is still swelling on his hand. When I told Pradhan about safety measures for the dog, he said he had a license and that I cannot do anything about it,” said Kirte.
Kirte said he will give an application to the BMC to shift the dog from there. “There is a school in the vicinity, so this should not happen to any other child and stern action should be taken,” said Kirte.
Pant Nagar police booked Pradhan under various sections of the BNS for an act endangering life or personal safety of others, among others.
