NEW DELHI: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Tuesday elected TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu as their chief ministerial candidate in Andhra Pradesh. According to party sources, Naidu along with other party members are scheduled to take oath on June 12 at 11.27am at Kesarapalli IT park near Gannavaram Airport.
The move comes after NDA held a meeting in Vijayawada, where the allies — TDP, BJP and Janasena — elected TDP Naidu as their leader in the assembly.Naidu’s name was proposed by Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan. The state BJP chief Daggubati Purandeswari was also present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Janasena party MLAs unanimously elected party chief Pawan Kalyan as the floor leader of the Andhra Pradesh assembly.
NDA secured a huge majority in the Andhra assembly elections after securing 164 seats in the 175-member house. Of this, TDP secured 135, Janasena 21 and BJP 8.
