NEW DELHI: Chairman of the Ram Temple Construction Committee Nripendra Mishra refuted the claims made by the temple’s chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das over water seepage in the sanctum sanctorum.
“There was no water leakage but the rain water came down from the pipes fixed to install electric wires. I myself have inspected the building of the temple. The second floor is under construction. When the roof of the second floor will be finally constructed, then the rain water will stop entering the temple,” said Mishra.
Das had alleged negligence in the construction, pointing out the lack of proper drainage for rainwater and urged the authorities to address the issue immediately.
He had expressed his disappointment that the temple’s roof was leaking just months after its inauguration on January 22.
“It is very surprising that engineers from all over the country are building the Ram temple. The temple was inaugurated on January 22. But, no one knew that if it rains, the roof will leak. It is surprising that the roof of a world famous temple is leaking. Why did this happen?” said Das.
Meanwhile, Mishra assured that temporary constructions have been put in place on the roof to protect devotees from water and sunlight. He further stated that work on the first floor is underway which is expected to be completed by July and that the entire temple construction will be finished by December.
