RAMANAGARA: Two journalists associated with news agencies filed a complaint and counter-complaint accusing each other of assault and abuse at Ramanagara, around 45km from Bengaluru, when Congress MP DK Suresh was filing his nomination on Thursday.
The first complaint was filed by Elizabeth from PTI, accusing ANI reporter Raghavendra of assaulting and abusing her.Cops booked Raghavendra under IPC Sections 323 and 354. Later, Raghavendra filed a complaint accusing Elizabeth of abusing and beating him. Elizabeth was booked under IPC Section 323.
According to an eyewitness, the fight broke out over placing mikes near Suresh. The journalists had boarded an open vehicle which was heading towards the nomination centre. National Commission for Women member Khusbhu Sundar has condemned the physical and verbal abuse of the female journalist by the ANI reporter and demanded action against him by his employer, a PTI report said.
ANI editor Naveen Kapoor said in a post on X the reporter had been suspended. tnn
