Mumbai – Indradev Pandey
As Mumbai prepares for Anant Chaturthi celebrations, the city’s police force is rolling out an extensive security strategy to ensure a smooth and safe event. Satyanarayan Chaudhary, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), has outlined a robust plan involving a significant deployment of personnel and technological resources.
A total of 23,400 police personnel will be assigned to manage security during the festivities. On the day of immersion, which is the culmination of the Anant Chaturthi celebrations, the police force will see 2,900 officers and 20,500 policemen actively on duty. This comprehensive deployment is designed to maintain order and manage the large crowds expected during the immersion processions.
In addition to the substantial number of officers, 40 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and 50 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) will be stationed throughout the city to oversee security operations. The Mumbai Police will also collaborate with specialized units, including the State Reserve Police Force, the Rapid Action Force, and the Riot Control Squad, to bolster their efforts.
To enhance surveillance and ensure public safety, the police will deploy CCTV cameras and drone cameras to monitor the immersion processions closely. This technological support aims to keep a vigilant eye on all activities, particularly focusing on sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incidents.
Special attention will be given to the safety and security of women and children during the festivities. The police are implementing measures to address potential safety concerns and ensure a secure environment for all participants.
The Mumbai Police’s detailed planning underscores their commitment to ensuring that Anant Chaturthi celebrations proceed without incident, maintaining the safety and well-being of the city’s residents during this significant festival.
