GUWAHATI: Assam govt has extended imposition of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (Afspa), 1958, in its four districts – Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo and Sivasagar – for six months from April 1, reports Prabin Kalita. These districts continue to be considered as “disturbed areas”, a govt notification stated.
According to the state home and political department notification, Assam Police HQ submitted a report showing improvement of law and order situation in Assam, barring the four districts where one militant organisation is still active.The police recommendation to continue imposition of Afspa in the “disturbed area” has been approved by the MHA.
