NEW DELHI: The Border Security Force (BSF) has intercepted two drones laden with a substantial quantity of narcotics near the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab‘s Tarn Taran district on Friday.
The coordinated operation led to the recovery of a total of 1,060 grams of suspected methamphetamine from the drones.
The first drone was apprehended at approximately 8:10 pm on Friday from a farming area in CB Chand village, followed by the interception of the second drone on the outskirts of Kalsian village around 10:35 pm on the same evening.
“In the evening hours of May 30, vigilant BSF troops, on receiving information about the presence of drones alongwith narcotics at two different places on the border area of district Tarn Taran, promptly conducted search operations in the suspected areas,” said the BSF in a statement.
The seized narcotics, suspected to be methamphetamine, were meticulously wrapped in yellow-colored adhesive tape, with each packet weighing 540 grams and 520 grams respectively. Additionally, a metal wire ring was found attached to each packet.
“Both the recovered drones have been identified as China-made DJI Mavic 3 classic,” said the BSF, adding “Keen observation and prompt action by the diligent BSF troops on duty once again proved their commitment to plug the entry of illicit drones carrying narcotics from across the border.”
