NEW DELHI: Eminent personalities on Friday shared their perspective on TOI’s Right TO Excellence Health summit organised ahead of the world health day on April 7.
The summit was themed at ‘My Health, My Right’ to create awareness on how access to quality health care should be a fundamental right for everyone and focused on a variety of topics including modern-day wellness techniques, mental health awareness, pregnancy & parenting and digital healthcare.
The summit was kicked off by the keynote address of Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute.
During his address, Dr Seth quoting the World Health Organisation said, “Health was defined by WHO as not just the absence of disease but a state of physical, mental and spiritual health.”
He further said that wellness is an active phenomenon which goes beyond health because wellness also inculcates mental, spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual, occupational and environmental health.
“Wellness is a path, a journey and an activity, it is something you continue day after day. It is not a static situation,” he said.
“The wellness got destroyed completely in 2020 when the shut down happened and the covid came. It was a destruction of mankind,” Dr Seth added.
The summit also brought together doctors, experts and health industry leaders to discuss how the healthcare ecosystem can be made more accessible and inclusive, the role of technology and digitisation and importance of mental health
