The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 9 on Wednesday nabbed a 21-year-old man allegedly with illegal firearm and live cartridges in Khar area of the city, an official said.
According to the police, the officials of the crime branch Unit 9 headed by Daya Nayak received information regarding the suspect who was in possession of illegal firearm. The police traced the suspects location in the jurisdiction of Khar police station and nabbed the suspect from Chitrakar Dhurandar Road in Khar.
The suspect was Identified as Srikrishna Vivendra Pal Sharma, 21, a resident of Mira Road. He is originally from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, an official said.
The police have seized a stainless steel, locally manufactured pistol along with four live cartridges from the possession of the accused.
“An FIR has been registered at the Khar Police Station under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act and sections 37(1)(A) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act,” the official said. He will be produced before a court on May 2, he added.
