UK’s TRA has begun a review of countervailing duties on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) imports from India, ranging from 0 per cent to 13.8 per cent.
This review, covering imports worth over £200 million (~$257 million) in 2023, will assess if the measure suits the UK’s needs.
Affected businesses should register interest by July 25, 2024.
PET, a type of plastic widely used in the production of textiles such as clothing fabrics, saw total imports worth over £200 (approximately $257 million) in 2023.
The period of investigation for this transition review spans from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, while the injury period for the case covers from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2023, TRA said in a press release.
Businesses that might be affected by this investigation are encouraged to register their interest through the TRA’s online case platform, the Trade Remedies Service, by July 25, 2024. This registration is crucial for the TRA to gather all relevant data from UK industry, which will inform any potential changes to the existing measure, TRA said in a press release.
